As another Valentine's Day came and went, so did the love. Couples that are normally one to fight or bicker, took a time out for one day, most likely to return to the incessant problems on the 15th. People of all ages delighted in chocolates. For one day of the year, we wear pink or red and our hearts on our sleeves. Maybe Valentine's Day is too hyped up. As for me, I didn't do the cards this year. I know my cards can really genuinely impress people. Last year it took a certain amount of glitter, and catch phrases to do the trick. This year my heart just wasn't in it. Though I did sport a pink polo shirt, I most likely failed at spreading the love. The winter and the bitter cold gets to me, every single year, like clockwork. I also believe that one day designated for love is not enough. If we could find a way to turn an entire calendar year into a celebration of love, maybe we would all be happier. However, I was lucky enough to get a view into Valentine's Day in so many ways. I saw the obnoxious bus couple, was touched with a kind message, and overall genuinely happy with mankind, for at least a little bit.
Case #1- Starting my day off right.
I woke up this morning and on my way to class stopped at the front desk to mail two letters. One to Lindsay discussing arrangements as to how I will be delivering her birthday present for her February 16th birthday, and one to Bid filled with what I thought were inspirational words. Upon dropping off my mail, I decided to check my mail on the rare chance that there is something for me. To my surprise, I had something! A card from Holly addressed to me, wishing me a Happy Valentine's Day. I felt the love right away.
Case #2- The Sister Bond.
This was the most touching, and heartwarming stories of them all on my Valentine's Day. While I sat and waited for Jan to start advertising lecture, I noticed that the normally talkative, bubbly Chi Omega girl was without her better half. My heart immediately went out to her. Where could her sister be? Were the bonds of sisterhood broken? Why would she be late to class? As if God were listening to my prayers, all of a sudden the Chi-O's sister swoops down the aisle, whipping out a decorated heart card for her fellow sorority best friend for life. The two friends hugged and shared a moment. The card that took tons of preparation made the girl late for class, but it was all worth it in the end. <3
Case #3- A Valentine fro
m God.On my way from the gym to math class I was running too far behind for my liking. I decided to cut through Well's Hall, a path that I certainly do not take on a regular basis, if at all. As soon as I was about to exit Well's Hall and continue on with my cold journey outdoors, a few men walked in with flowers and boxes of candy. Our paths crossed right then and I was showered with a bag of candy and a flower with a message from God on it that says I am beautiful. I belive God wanted me to be running late for class, and sent the flower to me to make me feel loved on Valentine's Day. Or I could just chalk it up as a coincidence and continue being a cynic.
Case #4- You Still Annoy Me.
This is where my love for the day took a serious turn for the worst. You've heard of the bus couple. If you haven't you are about to. I've blogged about them before. I walk to the Cata Bus Station to wait for the 31, and I see, you guessed it, the bus couple. This time, while waiting, I tried to snap a picture of them on the camera phone because the only way to believe how obnoxious they are is to see them in action. Unfortunately, I could only get their shoes. I was not stealthy at all. Seeing them made me want to puke, especially because they were in their glory on Valentine's Day.
The bottom line is: it's nice to feel loved, and love in return. It's good to give and receieve. It's always important to remember not to let holidays become too commercialized and remember why they exist to begin with.

Things I love:

-Jack's Mannequin, and I like naps.

-Guitar Hero.

-John.
-Family&Friends.
Peace out&Love to all on every day, not just Valentine's Day!
